| BINDING TERM | Antique Style: The imitation of a style from a previous period, in this case, Jansenist style. Jansenist style was popular in the late 17th and early 18th centuries, and is characterized by a plain exterior and elaborately tooled doublures. |
| COVER material/hardware, etc corner style/turn ins repairs | Full navy blue tanned goatskin, morocco grain, butt-mitred corners, turn ins not visible. The spine has five raised bands and is a tightback. |
| DECORATION style | Front and back boards are plain. Spine has gold tooled title, place and date of publication. Doublures are elaborately tooled in gold with a series of interlocked lozenges, floral elements, and arabesques. Doublure border is rolled. Edges are gilt. Has red/green/yellow bookmark attached at the head. |
| BOARDS material back cornering | Board not visible. No shaping, back cornered. |
| SPINE rounding/ backing lining | Rounded and backed. Spine linings are not visible. |
| ENDBANDS style material/color core material | Red, green, yellow French double headbands. Core, crowning core and front bead. Rolled paper support. |

| ENDPAPERS material # of flyleaves/attachment | Orange goat doublures, leather joint, two made (20th century comb pattern) marbled paper fly leaves and two beige (1) flyleaves. |
| TEXT BLOCK material edge treatment | Hand made beige (1) medium (1) slightly textured (2) laid paper. A watermark of three balls arranged in a triangle within a laurel wreath appears on the last blank leaf before the title page engraving. Edges are trimmed and gilt. |
